Search/eCommerce Architect
Newport News, Virginia - Direct Hire Opportunity 
 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with 3rd party tools to analyze and optimize customer search experience on multiple sites
  • Determine and execute strategies that will reduce null search results, reduce exit rates, and increase search conversion rates
  • Set strategy for proper content layout for best search results through internal and external sites
  • Through research and analysis, set proper relevancy rankings, create redirects and thesaurus entries, and set up keywords for better search results
  • Establish success criteria and evaluate current success to establish a benchmark
  • Develop and maintain reports to measure the effectiveness of search strategy, and to communicate results to senior management team
  • Work with analytics team, usability team and IT to develop consistent testing on search strategies
  • Serve as the expert in the search function and work collaboratively with developers and analysts to implement search functionality
  • Develop and manage strategies, timelines, and budgets for online search
  • Perform regular competitive analysis
  • Actively seek feedback from customers and associates regarding online search and navigation
  • Employ methodology for making search tuning changes to create a rich environment for the customer
  • Work with business groups, usability team, product content, and analytics team to set top-level navigation for multiple sites
  • Develop, maintain, and implement a strategy for which product content is displayed as part of navigation (properties & dimensions)
  • Work with merchandisers to develop landing page strategies around heavily visited sections or search terms
  • Develop and maintain reports to measure the effectiveness of navigation strategy and communicate results to senior management team
  • Understand internal and external customer data needs and expectations for online search & navigation (to include professional contractors, end consumers, associates, etc.)
  • Work cross-functionally to define search strategy and navigation structure on various online channels
  • Address and resolve complaints in a timely manner, with courtesy and respect
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate Degree in Marketing, Information Technology, or related field preferred
  • 5 or more years of progressive experience in knowledge management, content management, and architecture
  • Search engine implementation and optimization experience required
  • Proficiency in search technologies - Endeca preferred.  Familiarity with Oracle Commerce, Oracle ATG, or Experience Manager beneficial.
  • Strong familiarity with user experience design, SEO, and search analytics - Adobe Analytics preferred.
  • Skills in metrics, experiment design, and/or quantitative analysis to clarify the user’s experience
  • Proven success in working with technical and non-technical members of a team
  • Experience designing and building taxonomies and controlled vocabularies
  • Management of multiple tasks/projects while providing daily support for a diverse set of applications
  • Ability to analyze data issues, produce working solutions, and work with and analyze multiple data sets
  • Proven interpersonal skills (managing meetings, scheduling activities, monitoring progress, reporting to management, presentation skills)
  • Good understanding of content management system and web applications
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team
  • Must possess a "think outside the box" mentality to seek new and innovations solutions and practices
  • Poise and maturity to interact with management
  • Excellent customer service, leadership, attention to detail, listening skills, and negotiation skills are essential
